Wonder of a child

I have been pondering about how different I am from most everyone in my acquaintance. In so many ways I am like a child. Many simple, everyday things fill me with wonder, and I do not have the sophistication to keep my thoughts to myself. I'm like the child who taps their mother on the arm 50 times a day saying "look at that fish" and "smell this flower" and "look at that tall man" and "look what the inside of my cut looks like" and "look at the pretty picture God painted in the sky!". Usually I do not realize I am doing this, but the funny looks and sighs I get remind me that I am in my wonder zone.

I just cannot cease to be amazed at the variety, beauty and complexity of the things that God places within my environment. You know, He didn't have to make our world so varied, but He did it with such flair!

His multifaceted character causes me to wonder and to praise Him. As a child I thought I knew God as giant judge with the capability to send me to hell if I messed up. As a teen I learned more about His love and holiness. As a college student I learned about His creativity, guidance, comfort and faithfulness. As a children's shelter employee I was confused by His choice not to protect the innocent from the evil actions of their parents and their friends. As a result I am still trying to understand His justice and will always be learning/requiring of His grace with my disappointment/misunderstanding of how He doesn't always answer prayers, even those for the abused, starving and helpless innocent. Now I am am learning of His creativity, His patience, His glory, His sovereignty.

I love learning about God's character. I have so far to go! I believe the things and people He puts in my life allow me to see more of who He is and Who He isn't. That is a good reason for people watching! : ) Recently the Word has been even more alive to me than usual as He is revealed in it.

Romans 11:33-34 "Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! "For who has known the mind of the LORD? Or who has become His counselor?'”
