Kindness

Today in class one of our instructors exhorted us to stay compassionate, to be kind and caring nurses, to never become cold, impatient or lack empathy for our patients. Imagine a world where everyone in a service position had a loving and kind heart. Imagine a world where selfishness and judgement did not exist...

I echo this prayer...

Sweetest Lord, make me appreciative of the dignity of my high vocation, and its many responsibilities. Never permit me to disgrace it by giving way to coldness, unkindness, or impatience. Mother Teresa

In heaven it will be that way, but even now in this imperfect world, I know a few amazing saints who move smoothly through, speaking words of love and encouragement and tenderly touching the ruffled hearts around them. They manage this, regardless of the bumps and bruises they experience from the jostling of those around them who live in darkness. I am so thankful for their example of peace and kindness spilled out in the midst of their own personal chaos and pain. God has placed many graceful people in my life. I am so blessed to have been warmed by their touch on my soul.
